Prayer Books
Beth El uses a prayer book called Siddur Sim Shalom, which will be available at your seat in the sanctuary. This blue book contains Shabbat prayers in both Hebrew and English. Additionally, there will be a large, red book, Etz Hayim: Torah and Commentary, which is a Chumash (a printed book-bound form of Torah and associated Haftarah organized by weekly portions assigned to each week). The weekly assigned reading is, for the most part, universal across all synagogues throughout the world. You can utilize it during the Torah service and when Elnatan chants the Haftarah.
Since Hebrew is read from right to left, the pages in the prayer books will read from right to left. Because the prayer books have the name of G-d in them, we ask that you treat them respectfully and do not place them on the floor.
